Writing Challenge: My 30-Day Commitment to Daily Stories

Written on

Chapter 1: The 30-Day Writing Challenge

This month, I’m embarking on a commitment to post a story on Medium every day for the next 30 days. My goal is to cultivate a writing habit that can persist beyond this period. As many experienced writers on Medium have pointed out, while the initial phase can be challenging, overcoming that learning curve can lead to a rewarding routine.

Why am I focusing on Medium? It’s not just about refining my writing abilities to enhance my career; it’s also about delivering greater value to my clients.

Good Habits Matter

We’ve all experienced the cycle of setting New Year's resolutions or embarking on diets with enthusiasm, only to falter. Often, we neglect to create a concrete action plan to guide us toward our goals. Balancing a full-time job doesn’t mean you can’t pursue your ambitions; it simply requires strategic planning of the time you do have. Even dedicating just one hour each day can lead to significant progress. Establishing positive habits is crucial for personal growth and achieving your objectives.

Creating a Strategic Plan

To realize my aspirations, I need to formulate a clear plan. This is for my benefit, not anyone else's. I must identify when I can carve out time to focus on my writing. If I’m not committed, I won’t take this essential step. Here’s how I am setting my SMART goals:

  1. Specific: Expand my audience on Medium by consistently writing and publishing a story daily.
  2. Measurable: Gain visibility on Medium and enhance my writing skills, with the aim of attracting followers.
  3. Achievable: Maintain a consistent presence on the platform.
  4. Time-Bound: Aim to increase my following through daily posts for 30 days.

These objectives give me a clear target to strive toward.

In Summary: - Develop positive habits. - Formulate a strategic plan. - Establish SMART goals.

Having set my sights on these goals, I now hold myself accountable. If I miss a day, I’ll need to find a way to make it up. Should I stumble, I’ll simply try again.
