A Transformative Journey: Embracing Dietary Changes After Psychedelics
Written on
Chapter 1: The Dietary Shift
Prior to my exploration of psychedelics, I spent seven years as a vegetarian and another year fully committed to a vegan lifestyle. I was convinced that these diets were the only path to true health. However, my understanding of what constitutes a healthy diet has significantly evolved.
During my first Ayahuasca experience, I was still adhering to a vegan diet, and I mistakenly believed that my spiritual journey would further distance me from any desire to consume meat. I could not have been more mistaken.
Throughout this journey, I developed a profound respect for all living beings, from the tiniest insects to the largest mammals. Each creature has its own role within the ecosystem. The interconnectedness of life is undeniable, and as per the First Law of Thermodynamics, energy cannot be created or destroyed—it simply exists.
It is acceptable to consume meat if one approaches it with respect for the life that has been sacrificed, maintaining the natural balance of existence. Now, when I eat meat or fish, I express gratitude for the spirit that has transitioned from its physical form. This perspective has evolved considerably following my psychedelic and shamanic experiences.
Section 1.1: Listening to My Body's Needs
I firmly believe that dietary choices are deeply personal; we all possess distinct minds and bodies. My journey has taught me to heed my body’s signals. After reintroducing fish and eventually meat into my diet, I noticed a remarkable improvement in my well-being—feeling stronger and more focused.
In my vegetarian days, my meals often leaned heavily on carbohydrates. Currently, I gravitate towards a ketogenic approach, minimizing carb intake. As a result, I experience less bloating and a more stable energy level throughout the day. Intermittent fasting likely contributes to these positive changes.
Subsection 1.1.1: A Return to Fresh and Organic
I prioritize consuming fresh, organic produce. I visit local butchers for meat, fish markets for seafood, and farmer's markets for fruits and vegetables. My shopping list has simplified significantly—I avoid processed snacks, chocolates, and frozen meals.
For me, the distinction now lies not between veganism, vegetarianism, or carnivorism, but rather between processed foods and those that are fresh and organic. Many have inquired about my current meat consumption after my psychedelic awakening, and I can confirm that I eat meat more than ever, but exclusively organic.
Chapter 2: The Impact of Psychedelics on Dietary Choices
In the first video, "Vegan & Meat-Eater Take Magic Mushrooms Before Debate," we witness a fascinating exploration of how psychedelics can shift dietary perspectives. The participants engage in a thought-provoking debate that highlights the transformative power of these experiences.
The second video, "If Meat Eaters Acted Like Vegans," humorously examines the contrasts between dietary philosophies, sparking a discussion on the societal implications of our food choices.
Feel embraced and appreciated.
