However, Putin's ambitions were thwarted; despite coming close, Russian forces were consistently pushed back by determined Ukrainian defenders, making any further advance exceedingly difficult.

As the capital, Kyiv holds immense strategic value for Ukraine. Its fall would signify a broader collapse of Ukrainian sovereignty, especially given Russia's disregard for international norms. Putin, a figure shrouded in controversy, continues to evade accountability while his actions devastate countless lives. Had it not been for his aggressive pursuits, the global landscape could have been markedly different.

Fortunately, Ukraine recognized the critical importance of safeguarding Kyiv. Support from Western nations proved invaluable, as they rapidly mobilized to supply Ukraine with weaponry. This initial influx included a significant number of javelins and other armaments, complemented by humanitarian aid. In the months that followed, Western allies escalated their support, providing tanks, artillery, and air defense systems. Without this assistance, Ukraine might have succumbed to Russian advances much sooner. Currently, Iranian drones are employed in striking civilians and targeting infrastructure, leaving Kyiv in a constant state of alert against these aerial threats.

It is clear that Putin understands Kyiv's symbolic and strategic significance; however, for him to succeed, a shift in his approach is necessary—an occurrence that seems unlikely. The depletion of his forces and tank resources has rendered his military capabilities weaker than ever.
