Embarking on the Keto Journey: Day Zero to Day One

Chapter 1: My Morning Ritual

Every dawn brings a sense of endless potential. The soft light of the morning and the harmonious sounds of birds, paired with a warm cup in hand, create a perfect atmosphere for embracing the day ahead. Yet, today, my cup is empty. I crave tea or coffee—something to start my morning.

As the clock strikes 5:20 AM, I reflect on last night’s storm, which has left the morning air cool and inviting. It’s an ideal backdrop for sharing my thoughts in this space. But first, I need my tea—or perhaps coffee. Most likely chai, without milk or sugar. Some say that's not true chai, but I've grown fond of this version after eliminating dairy from my diet in the past. Initially difficult, I eventually discovered a love for strong, unadulterated chai. When I reintroduced dairy, I realized I’m lactose intolerant—an amusing twist.

Holding that warm cup brings comfort. It feels reassuring, like everything will be okay, as long as I have that soothing drink with me. But today, my tea-making process feels complicated due to my recent decision to start keto.

After my shopping spree yesterday, I have all the ingredients I need, including MCT oil and cream. I wonder if these additions will change the flavor of my tea. It’s worth experimenting, right?

So, here we go—day one of my keto adventure. This choice is intentional and fills me with hope. It represents a necessary reboot in my life, though I can't shake the feeling of apprehension. Why the nerves? I've battled disordered eating for years, and while I’m still on my weight journey, I’ve reached a place of contentment with my body and no longer fear food.

What’s prompting this new venture into keto? Here are my reasons:

Section 1.1: Exploring Keto for the First Time

  1. A New Experience: I've dabbled in various diets before, some effective, others not. The keto lifestyle intrigues me as it appears satisfying rather than restrictive, at least in the short term. My goal is to achieve ketosis and observe my body’s response.
  2. Convenient Meal Plans: I’ve discovered a meal service that delivers delicious keto meals, eliminating the hassle of planning and preparation. No more cardboard-like meals for me; I’m ready for tasty options.
  3. Supportive Network: With friends and family backing me, I feel prepared to tackle this journey. I have those to lean on during tough times, and social plans are already in place, allowing me to focus on my goals.
  4. From a Place of Love: For the first time, I’m approaching this diet from self-love, not self-punishment. This journey is about improving my health and becoming a better version of myself, not about harsh restrictions.
  5. Short-Term Commitment: I’ve set a realistic six-week timeline for this diet, allowing my body a sufficient boost without overwhelming myself.
  6. Mental Health Focus: This journey is about more than just physical change; I seek mental clarity as well. As I step away from stimulants, I hope to see how nutrition impacts my ADHD management.

With my plans clearly laid out, I’m ready to begin this journey. Wish me luck!
